Fish & Chips at Poppies of Spitalfields

Poppies of Spitalfields /  6-8 Hanbury Street, London, E1 6QR, United Kingdom / 020 7247 0892

Is there anything more quintessentially British than Fish & Chips?

As it would have been such a shame to have missed out the trademark English dish, we went in search of some of the best Fish & Chips houses. Lucky as I am, turns out that my lovely quaint neighborhood, good ol' Spitalfields, housed one of London's top Fish & Chip stores. Stepping a dainty foot gingerly over the sky blue threshold, I knew on sight that it would be one of my frequent haunts in London.

Decorated like a 50's diner, Poppies' color palette is a soft pastel blue contrasted against black and white checker-board tiles. Red and white striped life-saving rings, framed photographs of old movie stars and a miscellany of memorabilia dot the walls . As retro music hummed softly from the jukebox in the corner, I patiently waited as the delicious sizzling of fish and chips hissed and filled my ears.

Though anticipation and hunger may not have ensured that I was the fairest judge of taste, I must say that the fish was succulent, soft and crisp. The cod itself was slightly tasteless, which is a problem easily solved with the addition of tartare sauce, it was easily the best deep fried fish I have ever tasted. The Chips were quite scrumptious as well, each packed with a strong solid taste of English potatoes. What truly surprised me was how much I enjoyed the fresh seasonal salad, each leaf and vegetable was brisk, fresh and tasteful, a perfect meal in itself even without the Fish & Chips.

So fellow readers, if you're on the lookout or harboring a craving for a plate of Fish & Chips, I heartily recommend Poppies of Spitalfields with its adorable atmosphere and crisp and sweet tasting Fish & Chips, definitely a fabulous place for a casual lunch with the girls!

JACK WILLS JUNK PARTY [GALLERY ONE]

Happy Saturday all! Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!
Lazy summer sunday's are best spend floating amongst the calm swaying waves in one of Hong Kong's scenic coves. Draped in it's trademark pastel pink and navy blue stripes, the Jack Wills Junk is the ultimate party boat. Bloggers, models, photographers, videographers and musicians alike gathered for one hell of a Sunday thanks to the lovely Jack Wills Hong Kong. A whirlwind of dancing on the sundeck, ransacking the goodie bags, sipping on Pimm and Seabreeze cocktails and yorkshire pudding will forever remain my memories of summer. Pounding tunes from our live DJ intermixed with the scrumptious scent of our Sunday roast (Jack Wills dines only as the British do and what, dare say, is more fabulously British than a quintessential Sunday Roast?) as we swayed and laughed the afternoon away. I took way too many shots for it to fit in one post! So, keep your eye out on this space for the rest of the coverage from the lovely event!

Tangerine Rooftops in Cesky Krumlov

I will never forget the polished cobblestone paths, buttery white walls and bronze tangerine roofs of Cesky Krumlov. Days passed in a vermillion blur as vibrant tastes and colors dot my memories of the thriving Medieval tourist town. I absolutely adored this town with its beautiful pastel walls, scattering of cute Czech toy shops, Medieval themed restaurants by the riverside and its vast collection of fairy tales and myths. Ghost stories echo through the streets and old buildings, it is rumored that the ghost of a princess with colored gloves rules the castle, her gloves omens that signify the future. Black for bad luck, red for fire and white for peace. A truly mysterious and magnificent lesser known location filled with wonderful ways to spend the day. My hours under the sun were spent trotting by horseback through swaying fields of bright pink flowers, rafting down a boundless shimmering river under cloud-filled baby blue sky and biking through the flitting shadows under the treetops of the Cesky forest. From this place on, I will crave the sugary cinnamon taste of a toasty warm Tredelnik bun and the brilliant sparks of red, yellows and greens of a Medieval roast plate. Time flew by faster than ever before in Cesky, a town of excitement, magic and adventure and a memory I will never forget.
