Sunset at the Ocean Pavilion

There comes a moment in time when everything in the world is so completely enchanting that you wish time itself would slow down just to so the beauty of the moment would be everlasting....

This, and in fact every single second of the trip, was one of those times. On one of our final nights at the Taj Exotica, we spent a few hours at the Ocean Pavilion, a secluded pavilion several miles away from the resort, watching the sun slowly fade below the horizon. Situated out in the midst of idyllic folding waves, we had only the soft sounds of water lapping and the occasional clink of our champagne flutes to accompany us. Thanks to the extremely sweet Greg, our indulgence was accompanied by a chilled bottle of bubbly and scrumptious canapes.

As the final fading rays of the sun skimmed across the horizon, our speedboat softly arrived to take us to the next part of our night; the Full Moon Barbecue. Dimly glowing lanterns and torches lit up the sand as the smell of honey roasted barbecue wafted though the air. A platform was built above the ocean to accommodate a live band. As the melodic tunes of Ed Sheeran floated the air (Mm this band was modern and very very good), guests gathered around the telescope situated in the middle of the beach to look up at the full moon. As the night went on, bare-footed couples started slow dancing on the shores to the soft sultry jazz emanating from the band. A slight breeze decorated the air with the soft floral smells of lillies, saltwater and smoke. As the guests started leaving, stumbling back to their waterfront Villas, my friend and I relaxed and talked as the stars twinkled on.

The trip in itself has been a magnificent journey, completely stunning and utterly unforgettable in every way.
From the amazing candlelit dinners under the stars to snorkelling around the coral reefs spotting characters from Finding Nemo, adrenaline-boosting watersports to kayaking with sting rays, every single moment has been a memory that will last for a lifetime. For those of you out there who are ever in doubt on whether or not to visit the Maldives, take it from me, there is no place better. For those of you out there who DO go, I cannot imagine a better hotel than the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, a place that I will always remember as the setting of my incandescently happy vacation.
