2nd Day in Paradise: It's All About the Sports

Ensconced in the soft warmth of my bed, I awakened to the mild scent of  saltwater wafting through the air. Stretching whilst unwinding the blinds, I was not prepared for the beauty that appeared in front of me. Crystalline blue waters glimmered as the waves from the Maldivian Sea softly rushed against the edges of our villa. White puffy clouds dotted the bright blue sky, it was one of those days where you could look out from inside your room and just FEEL the tropical warmth just by looking outside. I could definitely get used to waking up like this every morning.

All settled from the jet-lag (ahem, and the slight grogginess from a mixture of champagne and cocktails), we decided to make the most of Island life in the form of exhausting ourselves through exercise. I honestly don't think there is any other more satisfying way to spend a holiday other than being active in every way offered.

 

YOGA

 Our day started with a morning call at 7:30 am to prep for our 9:00-9:30 yoga class. The Yoga Class is taught in the lovely Yoga Pavilion, a hut-like panel that juts out over the ocean. Hey, it's not everyday you get a view like that whilst doing Yoga eh? Mind you, I am most definitely not the girl who looks fabulous sweating with a little bun on top of her head, as you can see from my lovely image below. There is just something so satisfying about waking up early in the morning for Yoga. It really cleared my mind and relaxed me for the rest of the day with the numerous Ooommms and chants that we muttered. 

Determined to take as many photos as possible, lunchtime was spent photographing the views amidst the beauty of our villa. Don't know about you, but if there is one thing I really enjoy about hotels, it's the Room Service. There is just something so luxurious and wonderful about gourmet meals being brought right to your doorstep. The fabulous Taj room service was exquisite. I don't think i've ever seen such an extensive in-villa dining menu is a long time. The thing about the Taj is that they have a large variety of vegetarian as well as eco-friendly dishes. 

TUBING

After lunch, we continued photographing until it was time for the water sports.

We did tubing ( a sport where you basically hang on for dear life on a floatable object whilst being dragged across the water by speedboat. It is SO MUCH FUN and requires no expertise at all! ) and Jet Skiing (which is officially my new favorite water sport). 

JETSKIIS

Have you ever jetskiied? Those machines have extraordinary horse power! I swear it has the ability to make you forget everything. It's just so powerful and FAST! The thing about Jet Skiis though is that they have no brakes. However, if you're generally sensible about riding them, it shouldn't prove to be too dangerous. I, unfortunately am a bit of an adrenaline junkie when it comes to motor vehicles such as the jetski and quad..long story short, I went way too fast, caught a high wave and pretty much flew off mid-air. Haha! It was still super fun! If you have never ridden a jetski before, I highly recommend you try it. Will put up a separate post about the teppanyakki dinner tomorrow, meanwhile, enjoy the photos ;)
